When starting a data collaboration, there is always a sequence of steps you need to take. These steps are mentioned here.
This short checklist can be used to keep track of the process while setting up a collaboration on sensitive data. A more elaborate guide can be found on our website.
- Setup steering group (determines dataspace goals)
- Setup expert working group (determines research agenda, prepares analyses and data extraction)
- Plan recurring meeting for steering group (e.g. monthly or quarterly, 1 hour)
- Plan bi-weekly meeting with expert working group (e.g. bi-weekly 30min)
- Brief privacy officer (of consortium organizer)
- Brief security officer (of consortium organizer)
- Onboard data scientist
- Develop initial research question and necessary variables/fields (rough draft, in text)
- Complete DPIA process for consortium lead
- Complete reference DPIA for consortium partners
- Complete security review with security officer
- Approve DPIA by consortium lead
- Write first design scripts to implement initial research question in Pyton/crandas
- Develop research agenda (e.g. planned quarterly results)
- Brief privacy officers of consortium partners on DPIA and collaboration agreement (incl. joint-controllership agreement)
- Ask consortium partners to complete DPIA process
- Prepare collaboration agreement (may include joint-controllership agreement)
- Ask consortium partners to review and approve collaboration agreement
- Run first analysis
- Review first analysis and update research agenda
